About HomeCostCheck
HomeCostCheck is an independent home-improvement cost reference. We help homeowners answer one question before they call a contractor: what should this realistically cost where I live?
Why we built this
Most "cost calculators" either hide their numbers behind a lead form or quote a single national figure that ignores how much local labor, permits, and climate change the price. We publish the full 2026 range up front, for every project, adjusted city by city — no email required to see it.
How we make money
Our guides are free to read. When you choose to compare local quotes, we link to third-party contractor-matching services and may earn a referral fee. That never changes the cost ranges we publish, and we always label those links.
Independence & accuracy
We are not a contractor and do not sell home-improvement services. Our estimates are guidance for budgeting, not quotes — always get written bids from licensed local pros. See how we estimate for our methodology and sources.
Spot a number that looks off for your area? We update ranges as labor and material costs move. Reach us through the contractor partners linked on each page.
